As we begin to look towards a new year in the life and ministry

of Lutheran Church of Our Savior,

every one of us has a reason to be grateful for this special place.

Lutheran Church of Our Savior nourishes us in so many different ways: through uplifting worship and the sharing of God’s holy meal; through fellowship with friends both new and long-standing; through sharing our tasks and celebrating our accomplishments; and through facing the challenges of life together, with God-given courage, strength and joy.

Give thanks with a grateful heart!

This fall, Lutheran Church of Our Savior is asking you to make a Plan for Giving of your time, talent, and treasure for the mission and ministry of our parish. In recognition and celebration of all that our parish means to us, we ask you to make your plan as an expression of grateful thanks for all that God gives to you.

What is a Plan for Giving?

A Plan for Giving is a prayerful plan made in good faith, to give to the church an amount your time, talent, and treasure, chosen by you, in weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even annual contributions.

Why should I make a Plan for Giving?

Making a Plan for Giving is a spiritual practice. It confirms your identity as a child of God and a member of Christ’s body in the Church. It promotes your spiritual growth.

  • You are a steward. Led by the Holy Spirit, you can renew your baptismal promises by planning to share the gifts God has given you for the work of Christ’s Church. In our Eucharistic Prayer, we say that “our duty and our joy” to return thanks to God. Part of our joyful duty is to support the work of our Church. We don’t have membership fees or dues; instead, we ask our members to join in the voluntary practice of giving in proportion to the gifts we have received from God.

  • Jesus bids us to be intentional and serious about our giving. He said, in his Sermon on the Mount, “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” A Plan for Giving is thus a holy “habit of the heart.”

How should I make a Plan for Giving?

Plan gratefully. Plan from your  heart.

Do what you feel called to do and what feels right.

  • If this is your first Plan for Giving, pick an amount of time, talent, and treasure you can comfortably pay. Get some successful experience making and fulfilling a plan. Notice what portion or percentage of your income that Plan for Giving represents.

  • If you have previously planned your giving, try to increase your financial giving plan by an additional 1% of your income.

  • When you have decided on your planned amount for 2023, we ask you to complete your Plan for Giving (Time & Talent and Financial) cards stating your intention. These will be distributed in early November, and we encourage you to return them on Commitment Sunday, November 13th. There will be a Stewardship Celebration on that day.

What is stewardship?

  • Stewardship is caring for one another and for all of God’s creation.

  • Stewardship means accepting God’s gifts to us with joy and gratitude.

  • Stewardship is a commitment to use God’s gifts to accomplish the work God challenges us to do.

  • Stewardship requires us to ask for spiritual guidance about responsible use of our time, our talent, and our treasure.

How can we be faithful stewards?

  • Lutheran Church of Our Savior Church is an active parish, serving the needs of our members, our local community, and the world. Our staff, ministry and mission teams, choirs, and various groups are committed, hard-working, and faithful. They offer opportunities for all people to share their gifts and talents in many different ways.

  • Being faithful stewards of our parish means giving generously of our time, talent, and treasure. In this way we ensure that Lutheran Church of Our Savior has the essential resources to serve God faithfully and effectively.

How much should I plan to give?

Every Plan for Giving counts! While making a Plan for Giving is a personal commitment between you and God, we must also be good stewards of what God has provided. A “Growth Giving Chart” is printed below to assist you to grow your giving.
